Where's Toto by Wayne Stadler

Welcome to my poetry page.

Scroll past the banter to view the available poems.

I was originally planning to self-publish my poetry with LuLu and distribute it through Amazon for my friends, family, and maybe even you. I’ve since changed my mind and decided to publish it online in hopes for a farther reach. Like most writers, my desire is to be read, related to, and having others enjoy my writing. I don’t write to become rich or famous. Of course, I wouldn’t be opposed to that if it happened as a by-product, but it’s not something that I currently strive for.

That being said, I decided the best place to publish my poetry would be right here on my own website. I will be posting the poetry under the Poetry tag, and linking to the individual posts from this page. Hopefully, this will be the easiest way for people to read the poems they want to read based on the title and a brief blurb. I hope you all enjoy and please comment if something reaches out and grabs you.

About My Poetry

I’ve been writing poetry since 1988 when I had to do it for an assignment in the 8th grade. I wasn’t very prolific at that age, or really ever, considering many poets. I began writing more regularly around 1996 and have continued to write whenever the notion hits me since then. I have around 150 titles…some of which I won’t share because they’re awful in my personal opinion. :-) I’ll probably share some that you think are awful. My poetry is mainly meant to be read silently rather than aloud.

My writing often leans toward spiritual things. Sometimes it lacks punctuation. All caps doesn’t really mean yelling…it’s just how I wrote it by hand. Yeah, it’s quirky. It’s an intense surrender and release for me and sharing it is like bleeding. Comment at will, but know it will be taken straight to the heart on my sleeve. Enjoy.

Othree21 — I love poems about Spring. This one is influenced by e.e. cummings, my favorite poet who also enjoyed writing about Spring.

3-0-Clock — A silly one I wrote about the 3 o’ clock lull at work. You know, that sleepy time after lunch?

Blues — I wrote this for my significant other at the time. This is one of my favorites and personal “bests”.

Burden — An extra shoulder for your load?

Core Worthless — One of my many moments of darkness. From despair comes genius.

In The Wings — One of my newer pieces. A little emo.

Re: High Flight Attn: Pilot Officer Magee — This is a reply to a favorite poem of mine. I wrote this after I flew in a plane for the first time.

Run-On Sentence — One of the first “flowing” poems I wrote. It really is a run-on sentence.

Sequel To Blues — A follow-up to Blues. See above.

Sweet Morphine — No, I’m not a drug addict. This poem documents my first experience with “hospital drugs” and the wonderful relief they give.

Synthetic Rush — Ever lost your fire…your zest for life, and tried to find it again? That’s what this one is about.

Terribly Two — A poem about my nephew, Joshua, who was two at the time.

The Power Of The Pen — A poem inspired by the quote: “The pen is mightier than the sword.”

Thrust Me Toward The Sun — Mmmm, I like this one. A little despair, a little positivity. Give it a try.

Untitled V — On of my untitled poems. I’ll post a couple of them here, but some of them fit in the aforementioned “awful” category. This one is about writing.

Magnetic Poetry

Magnetic Poetry are those little magnetic tiles emblazoned with words. You can rearrange the tiles and write different things. I’m quite obsessed. There are different sets which I specify on each post. The link above has flash versions that you can play online. The screen shots on my site came from using that site.

Metaphor For Passion — A magnetic poem using the Magnetic Poetry Artist Kit. It’s a short one!

Ode To College –  A magnetic poem using the Magnetic Poetry College Kit.

Turk — A magnetic poem about my cat using the Magnetic Poetry Cat Lovers’ Kit.

Winter of Discontent — A goofy one using the Magnetic Poetry Shakespeare Kit. I was proud of this one because I used the word “codpiece” in it. :-D

Humorous Musings

These are a few silly ones that I’ve written here and there. I hope they make you giggle.

Morning’s First Pee — I’m sure you can relate. This one was a big hit on WeBook.com.

My Underwear — It’s not too scary. The image is not me. :-)

Much More to Come!
